Berny Goodheart has been involved with UNIX since 1976, when he was majoring in Electronic Engineering at the University of Kent at Canterbury, in England. During this 25 year relationship with the UNIX operating system he has designed many device drivers and ported various UNIX kernels to several hardware platforms while working or contracting for companies such as Bell Laboratories, Zilog Inc., ICL Digitus Ltd and Microport Systems Inc.

Berny emigrated to Australia in 1987, and commenced working for NEC, before moving to TANDEM computers Inc (which became DEC, then Compaq, then HP). where he currently operates as a consulting specialist for UNIX systems in the Asia/Pacific Division.
