Bill Stott is the author of Documentary Expression and Thirties America; and Write to the Point: And Feel Better about Your Writing. He is co-author, with Jane Stott, of On Broadway: Performance Photographs by Fred Fehl; and, with John Lee, of Recovery: Plain and Simple, and Facing the Fire: Experiencing and Expressing Anger Appropriately.

He wrote the 30 introductions in Remembering America: A Sampler of the WPA American Guide Series, ed. Archie Hobson, and is the uncredited co-translator, with Jane Stott, of Claire Chevrillon's Code Name Christiane Clouet: A Woman in the French Resistance.

He co-wrote, co-produced, and appears as a hot dog in Olympia, a 1998 independent feature film.
