Fred Wiersema
Drawing on his rich experience and research, Wiersema is a sought after keynote speaker who in the past decade has addressed executive groups in two dozen countries. His best-known books include The Discipline of Market Leaders, which was co-authored in 1994 and stayed on Business Week's best-seller list for 19 months. The book urges companies to build superior value propositions by focusing their business on either operational excellence, customer intimacy or product leadership. In his follow-up book, Customer Intimacy, he discusses how winning firms build close connections with their most valued customers. His latest book, The New Market Leaders: Who's Winning and How in the Battle for Customers, was named Best Business book of the year 2001" by Management Team, the #1 Dutch business magazine.
Wiersema is president of The Customer Strategy Group LLC, a consulting practice that works with clients to sharpen their value propositions and grow their key strategic customers. Before founding the firm, he was a senior partner at CSC Index, an international consultancy, where he created its market leadership practice and consulted with Fortune-100 companies. Prior to that, he was a high tech executive and business school professor. His early career was with J. Walther Thompson Advertising.
Born in Holland, Fred holds a doctorate in business administration from Harvard Business School, an MA in marketing from University of Lancaster, UK, and a BSc in economics from Erasmus Universiteit, Rotterdam. He and his family live in the Boston area.
