While Tom's expertise within high-tech is broad, he specializes in the creation of breakaway strategies and business models for early stage enterprise software, technology-enabled services, and infrastructure companies.

He is in frequent demand as a speaker and has delivered talks on five continents. He has been a keynote or feature speaker for Microsoft, GE, Xerox, Siemens, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, multiple venture capital firms, and dozens of high-tech industry conferences.

When he is not developing strategy, consulting or speaking, Tom enjoys writing on the intersection between technology, strategy and economics. His articles have appeared in numerous publications including Forbes ASAP and The Red Herring.

Prior to his consulting career Tom was Director of Marketing for a venture-backed developer of software for service and support automation. Prior to that, he was a sales and marketing executive with a network systems integrator. He graduated from The University of Michigan where he studied electrical engineering and business.
